With negative experiences on the rise and positive experiences decreasing, refocusing our
efforts on achieving SDG3 has never been more crucial. Presenting results gleaned from
novel Big Data on increasing the wellbeing of all is an immediate source of information to
policymakers, who are often confronted with short-term horizons and imperfect
information.

Since 2017, researchers from the University of Johannesburg (UJ), University of Pretoria
(UP) and Örebro University (ORU) have been developing original approaches to data
collection to measure individual wellbeing using subjective and objective indicators. Our
workshop aims to present condensed results produced using our approaches, which are
relevant to "ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing for all at all ages" (SDG 3).
Additionally, we will discuss how our authentic research informs our teaching philosophy
and pedagogy.

You are very welcome to visit the GNH (Gross National Happiness).today project’s homepage.

The workshop aims to present four different examples of how individuals well-being can
be measured and analyzed using data and methods developed by the UJ-UP-ORU-researchers.
